YÖKDİL Gramer: Conditionals (If Clauses) 5 Tip + Mixed Yapılar

Conditionals (If Clauses), YÖKDİL'de dilbilgisi + cloze test sorularında en sık çıkan yapılardan biridir. 14 dilbilgisi sorusunun 2-3'ü conditional yapı üzerinden kurgulanır. Akademik metinlerde ise neden-sonuç, hipotetik durum ve teorik çıkarım ifadeleri için yoğun kullanılır. Tek Cümleyle Özet

Type 0: Evrensel Gerçek (Zero Conditional)

Yapı: If + Present Simple, Present Simple

Kullanım: Her zaman geçerli bilimsel gerçekler, genel yasalar.

• If water reaches 100°C, it boils. (Evrensel)
• If you heat metal, it expands. (Fizik yasası)
• Plants die if they don't receive sunlight. (Biyoloji)

Type 1: Gerçek Gelecek (First Conditional)

Yapı: If + Present Simple, will + V1

Kullanım: Gerçekleşme ihtimali yüksek gelecek durum.

• If the government passes the bill, healthcare costs will decrease.
• If the vaccine proves effective, it will be deployed globally.
• If researchers find new evidence, the theory will be revised.

Type 2: Şu An Hipotetik (Second Conditional)

Yapı: If + Past Simple, would + V1

Kullanım: Gerçekleşme ihtimali düşük veya hayali şu anki durum. Akademik metinlerde "varsayım" ifadeleri.

• If nations cooperated effectively, climate change would be mitigated.
• If the sample size were larger, the results would be more reliable. (Note: "were" formal)
• If humanity reached a distant planet, new questions would arise.

YÖKDİL ipucu: "If I were..." yapısı formal/akademik İngilizcede tercih edilir. "If I was..." informal.

Type 3: Geçmiş Hipotetik (Third Conditional)

Yapı: If + Past Perfect, would have + V3

Kullanım: Geçmişte gerçekleşmemiş durum için pişmanlık veya hipotez.

• If early intervention had been provided, outcomes would have been significantly better.
• If the researchers had used a control group, their findings would have carried more weight.
• If policymakers had heeded warnings, the crisis would have been averted.

Mixed Conditionals (Karışık Yapılar)

Tip A — Geçmiş koşul, şu an sonuç: If + Past Perfect, would + V1

• If early humans had developed language later, civilizations would not exist today.
• If the vaccine had been discovered in the 1950s, millions of lives would still be saved.

Tip B — Şu an koşul, geçmiş sonuç: If + Past Simple, would have + V3

• If she were a scientist, she would have published these findings.

YÖKDİL Özel: Akademik Conditional İfadeler

Akademik metinler "if" yerine daha formal bağlaçları tercih eder:

• Provided that / Providing — eğer, koşuluyla ("If"in formal versiyonu)
• Unless — aksi takdirde, olmadıkça ("If... not"un özet hali)
• As long as — sürece, kaydıyla
• On condition that — şartıyla
• Assuming that — varsayılırsa
• Supposing — farz edelim ki
• In the event that — durumunda (formal)

Cloze Test Stratejisi

1. Zaman teşhisi yap: Boşluktan önce "if" görürsen ana cümlenin zamanını belirle
2. Zaman uyum kuralı uygula: past → would, past perfect → would have, present → will
3. Formal alternatifleri hatırla: Akademik metinde "unless", "provided that" yaygın
4. Mixed conditional dikkat: İki cümlenin zamanı farklı olabilir

Yaygın Hatalar

• If + will: YANLIŞ — "If it will rain..." DOĞRU — "If it rains..."
• If + would: YANLIŞ — "If I would have time..." DOĞRU — "If I had time..."
• Type 2'de "was" vs "were": Her iki de kullanılır, ancak formal/akademikte "were" (If I were / If she were)
• Unless + not: YANLIŞ — "Unless you don't study..." DOĞRU — "Unless you study..."

Unless = If not mı?

Evet, büyük ölçüde. "Unless you study, you will fail" = "If you don't study, you will fail". Ancak unless daha vurgulu ve formal. Akademik metinlerde "unless" tercih edilir.

Mixed conditional'ı nasıl ayırt ederim?

İki cümledeki zamana bak. If cümlesi past perfect + ana cümle would → Type 3. If cümlesi past perfect + ana cümle would + V1 (geçmiş değil şu an) → Mixed Type A.

Type 0 ve Type 1 farkı nedir?
